FAQs
How long is the treatment?
The length of therapy really depends on your goals, the type of therapy, and your personal circumstances. That said, there are some general patterns:
Short-term therapy (like cognitive behavioral therapy) often lasts 12 to 20 weekly sessions, and many people start to see meaningful progress around the 7th to 10th session2.
Moderate-term therapy might stretch to 20–30 sessions over six months, especially if you're working through more complex issues or want to build long-term coping skills.
Long-term therapy can last a year or more, particularly for deep-rooted challenges, co-occurring conditions, or ongoing support needs.
Each session typically runs about 45 to 50 minutes. But ultimately, therapy ends when you and your therapist feel you've met your goals—or when you feel ready to take what you've learned and move forward.
Do you take insurance?
Some of our therapists are in-network with select insurance providers, while others are private pay only. Please check each therapist’s profile or reach out, and we’re happy to walk you through your options.
What’s the benefit of private pay?
Private pay gives you more flexibility—no need for a mental health diagnosis, and we can fully tailor your care without restrictions on session length or frequency. It’s confidential and puts you in the driver’s seat of your healing journey.
Can I still get reimbursed by my insurance if I pay out-of-pocket?
We offer private pay sessions, which allow for full privacy, flexibility, and personalized care—no diagnosis required.
If you have out-of-network benefits, we partner with Thrizer to make things easier. Thrizer lets you only pay your co-insurance upfront, and they handle the rest—no paperwork or waiting for reimbursement.
Prefer to submit claims yourself? We’re happy to provide superbills upon request.
Why don’t all therapists take insurance?
Insurance often requires a diagnosis and limits your care. Many of our therapists choose to remain out-of-network so they can offer deeper, more personalized work without those constraints.
